Two Early Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Northeastern U.S. origin, late 18th and early 19th centuries, a one-gallon jar with impressed and cobalt-highlighted drape motifs, stamped "S. AMBOY . N. JERSY", Thomas and Warne and Joshua Letts, South Amboy, NJ, early 19th century; paired with a half-gallon vertical-handled jar with cobalt watch spring motif, Manhattan, NY or Cheesequake, NJ origin. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market lot, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Both broken and reglued with some filled areas.
