Three Manganese-Decorated Redware Jars, Huntington, Long Island, New York or Norwalk, CT, circa 1840, all of ovoid form with flared collars, applied handles, and daubed manganese decoration, each with different incised line treatments. Provenance: Collected in the Long Island, NY area. Tallest with surface crack to underside, not visible on interior, a hairline to base area, wear to midsection, and some small chips. Middle-sized jar with heavy chipping to rim, chips to shoulder molding and one handle, a small glazed-over surface chip, a short glazed-over separation in one handle terminal, a few base chips, and some whitish residue to base. Shortest with rim chips, a base chip, and a loss to one handle. H (of tallest) 9 3/4".
