One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, attributed to J. & E. Norton, Bennington, VT, circa 1855, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. Slip-trailed "1 1/2" above. Tiny nicks and wear to inner rim for lid. A minor in-the-firing iron ping to side of jar. Some minor in-the-firing residue at base. Minor exfoliation to underside.
