Three Pieces of District of Columbia Regional Stoneware, 19th century, a rare handled bottle, stamped "H.C. SMITH", Alexandria, VA origin; a half-gallon jar, stamped "P. HISER & SONS / WASHINGTON, D.C."; and a two-gallon cylindrical jug, stamped "E.J. MILLER / ALEXA", Alexandria, VA origin. Literature: H.C. Smith bottle illustrated and discussed in Wilder, Alexandria VA Pottery 1792-1876, p. 176. Smith jug with poorly-restored handle, some light surface scaling to reverse, a salt drip to reverse, and a minor base chip. Hiser jar with a small base chip, and a minor in-the-firing nick to base and rim. Miller jug with base chips and a tiny spout chip.
