Two Pieces of New Jersey Stoneware, 19th century, a rare three-gallon ovoid jar with cobalt floral decoration, stamped "HUMISTON & / STOCKWELL, / S, AMBOY NJ"; paired with a two-gallon crock with cobalt floral decoration, stamped "J.M. PRUDEN, / MANUFACTURER, / ELIZABETH, NJ". Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market lot, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Humiston & Stockwell jar with large bloated spot to collar, a large bloated spot to shoulder on reverse, and a smaller bloated spot to collar on reverse, the surface with heavy iron deposits throughout, and a chip to one handle. Pruden crock with a top-to-bottom crack from rim on reverse, extending onto underside, as well as two rim chips and a small base chip.
