Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Coggled Swag-and-Tassel Decoration, Manhattan, NY origin, probably Clarkson Crolius, Sr., circa 1800, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and open loop handles, decorated on the front and reverse with an impressed and cobalt-highlighted drape-and-tassel design created from a scallop-edged coggle wheel. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: Property of aNew York State collector. A large area of professional restoration on side of jar, extending partway onto front and back of jar, including restoration to handle itself. Base chips. A few small rim chips.
