Two Glazed Redware Jars with Similar Sponged Manganese Decoration, PA origin, circa 1840-1880, a handled crock and ovoid jar, both with heavy manganese sponging in a draped pattern. Ovoid jar with incised "6" on underside. Handled crock with "10" written on underside. Both made at the same as-yet-unidentified pottery. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market lot, from a sixty-year private collection. Ovoid jar with faint hairline from rim, a short T-shaped line to base/underside, and some wear to rim. Handled crock with a shallow rim chip, a shallow in-the-firing contact mark to one handle, some minor surface wear to exterior, and some glaze wear to interior. H (of ovoid jar) 5 1/8".
