Unusual One-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "J. BENNAGE. 1838", Portage County, OH origin, 1838, highly-ovoid jar with applied lug handles and flared collar, decorated with a cobalt stripe to the shoulder and cobalt highlights to the handle terminals. Includes fitting salt-glazed lid of unknown origin. Jar with a tight spider line to one side, a salt glob to opposite side, and small restored rim chips. Lid in as-made condition with two salt drips and a minor edge chip.
