Rare Glazed Stoneware Pitcher with Applied Federal Eagle Motif, Inscribed "F.O.E. / 1.2.2", American, late 19th century, tankard-form pitcher with Bristol-slip-glazed surface and spurred handle, the surface decorated with applied sawed limbs and incised bark, covered in Albany slip. Front decorated with a shield bearing a Federal eagle with shield, holding an olive branch and arrows, with light cobalt and Albany slip highlights throughout. Base inscribed "F.O.E. / 1.2.2" in cobalt. Underside with pencil inscription, "Walt Kick Father / Clark Kick / presented to Clark / app 1900 from Germany". Excellent condition with an in-the-firing contact mark to spout. H 8 5/8".
