Unusual One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Bird Decoration, Albany, NY origin, early 19th century, ovoid jug with footed base, tooled spout, and ribbed handle, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a bird plucking a berry from a branch. Inscribed on shoulder "1 G" in script. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: Property of a New York State collector. Heavy chipping to base. Two semi-circular cracks to top of spout. A chip to interior of spout and minor nick to exterior of spout. A long crack to left side of jug's front. Crazing to shoulder.
