Rare Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar with Bail Handle, Crawford County, GA origin, late 19th or early 20th century, ovoid jar with tooled midsection, pronounced shoulder molding, and flared collar with applied clay knobs, holding a wood-and-wire bail handle. Surface covered in a streaky green alkaline glaze. Exceptional form. Provenance: Dr. Raymond L. Owen Collection. Very nice condition with a small chip to one knob and some in-the-firing flaws, including some glazed-over lines to base, a raised, glazed-over clay separation to shoulder, and some in-the-firing chipping to base. H 5 1/2" ; Diameter 6 3/8".
