Fine Large-Sized Double-Handled Stoneware Jar with Alkaline Glaze, Crawford County, GA origin, second half 19th century, approximately eight-gallon, ovoid jar with flared rim and applied strap handles, the surface covered in a mottled-brown alkaline glaze. Outstanding size and form with exceptional, thin-walled potting. Provenance: Dr. Raymond L. Owen Collection. A tight, approximately 10" spider crack from rim on one side, which has been sealed. A sealed, approximately 4 1/4" crack from rim on opposite side of jar. A few rim chips. Areas of light wear to surface. H 17 3/4".
