Glazed Redware Lidded Jar, New York State origin, possibly Alvin Wilcox, West Bloomfield, NY, circa 1850, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and footed base, with surface covered in a clear lead glaze over a reddish ground with greenish-cream streaks to shoulder. Includes original lead-glazed redware lid with tooled edge. Provenance: The Stradlings; Garth's Auction, 1979. Base chips. Some exfoliation to bottom third of jar. An in-the-firing contact mark to midsection. A 1 1/8" rim chip. Other minor flakes to rim. Typical light surface wear to midsection. Shallow chipping to edge of lid and glazed flakes to finial of lid. H (including lid) 11 1/4".
