Exceptional Glazed Redware Jug, New England origin, circa 1825, highly ovoid jug with rounded foot, ribbed handle, and short flaring spout. Decorated with daubs of manganese over a colorful light green and orange-spotted ground. A jug by the same maker is currently on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan, NY. Provenance: Dr. Raymond L. Owen Collection. Spout wear. Light wear to edges of handle. Some small glaze flakes to surface. Two hairlines from rim, measuring 2 1/4" and 2". H 8 1/2".
