Very Fine Redware Stew Pot with Speckled Copper Glaze, Maine origin, early to mid 19th century, ovoid jar with semi-squared rim, footed base, and applied strap handle, the surface covered in a creamy greenish glaze spotted with copper and reddish iron flecks throughout. Exceptional color. Provenance: Dr. Raymond L. Owen Collection; ex-Milly McGehee, Baltimore, MD. Wear to rim. Handle with wear and two flakes to edge. A Y-shaped hairline on underside, extending 1 1/2" up reverse. A 5/8" unglazed in-the-firing contact mark near base. H 5 3/4".
