Glazed Redware Figure of a Lion, attributed to H. Davies at the Pill Pottery, Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales, circa 1800-1830, large-sized figure of a reclining lion with heavily-applied mane and well-detailed face, the surface covered in a heavy lead glaze. Wonderful folk art form. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example from an eighty-year private collection. Very nice overall condition with small chips to base, mane, one ear, one eyebrow, and paws. L 9 1/2" ; H 7 1/2".
