Rare Diminutive Glazed Redware Jar, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'", PA origin, circa 1850-1880, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and semi-squared rim with tooled midsection, the surface deocrated with sponged reddish-brown manganese over a yellowish-orange ground. Impressed with John Bell maker's mark on underside. Excellent size and colorful glaze. Provenance: Dr. Raymond L. Owen Collection. Wear to rim. Some minor flecks of glaze loss to surface. Faint 2" line from rim on interior, not visible on exterior. A few small glaze flakes to interior. H 3 5/8".
