Stoneware Butter Crock, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1820, cylindrical crock with squared rim and tab handles, decorated on front and reverse with a brushed stylized daisy flanked by dashed strokes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. The decoration is closely-related to designs employed by Baltimore and Virginia potter, Thomas Amos, at the Richard Randolph Stoneware Manufactory in Henrico County, VA, circa 1820. The clay, however, indicates a Baltimore origin. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 4 1/2"; D 8".
