Scarce Six-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Clover Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1870, large-sized, tapered churn with flared collar and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a two-stemmed clover plant design. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals along with a curving line of cobalt underneath each handle. Baltimore-made stoneware churns are unusual and relatively few are known in this size. A 1 3/4" x 1 1/2" chip to rim on side of churn. A few small, bloated spots to surface. A minor glazed-over ping to collar. H 17 5/8".
