Small-Sized Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Northeastern U.S. origin, late 18th or early 19th century, ovoid jug with tooled spout, decorated with a brushed star on one side and a foliate motif on the opposite side. Front decorated with foliate brushwork, which faded during the firing. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Exceptional size. An in-the-firing contact mark near base. A small in-the-firing chip to side of jug. A shallow chip to interior of spout and a small in-the-firing contact mark to exterior of spout. A hairline through handle. A few minor nicks to base. H 7 3/4".
