Fine Six-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Bird Decoration and Molded Handles, Stamped "E.W. FARRINGTON / ELMIRA, N.Y.", circa 1880, ovoid churn with flared collar, decorated with a large cobalt design of a songbird perched on a leafy branch. Incised detail to bird's eye. Ornately-molded handles with faux screwhead terminals, brushed with cobalt. Includes Albany slip glazed guide. Faint line from rim above one handle. Small flake on reverse at base. Expected light wear on interior of rim from use. H 19 1/4".
