Scarce and Fine Miniature Stoneware Presentation Pitcher with Profuse Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "J.H. PATTON", Northeastern U.S. origin, circa 1850-1880, squat-shaped pitcher with bulbous body, footed base, and angled rim molding, decorated around the body with a series of brushed cobalt spots. Cobalt dash decoration to rim and handle. Front impressed with the cobalt-highlighted name, "J.H. PATTON", presumably the individual for whom the pitcher was made. Excellent size and form. Wear to rim. A 1 7/8" salt drip to reverse. An approximately 3" crack from rim on right side of pitcher. A smooth, shallow in-the-firing base chip on right side of pitcher, measuring 1/2". A 1/2" in-the-firing stone ping to underside. H 4 1/4".
