Rare Slip-Decorated Redware Plate with Tree-of-Life Motif, probably Pennsylvania origin, 19th century, with coggled edge, the interior decorated in yellow slip with a folky "tree-of-life" design bearing spotted fruit, emanating from a stylized ground or urn. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example purchased by the consignors' parents decades ago. Rim chips. The interior of the plate survives in remarkable, essentially untouched condition. Diameter 10 3/8".
