Three-Gallon Open-Handled Stoneware Jar with Incised Foliate Decoration, Manhattan, NY origin, probably Crolius Family, circa 1810, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder and open loop handles, decorated on the front and reverse with an incised and cobalt-highlighted foliate motif. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Significant sealed cracks to base and underside, including a few small filled spots on underside. Long cracks from rim, including a small filled hole along crack on one side. A 2" x 1" filled section to rim. One handle reglued. Small rim chips, two of which are filled. In-the-firing residue to base area.
