Rare Quart-Sized Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Swag Decoration, New Jersey or Connecticut origin, late 18th or early 19th century, ovoid-bodied pitcher with footed base, tooled circumferential banding, and ribbed handle, decorated on the front with two rows of cobalt drapes. Brushed cobalt stripe at base of collar. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. The lack of an Albany slip coating on the interior suggests this pitcher is a particularly early example. Small glazed-over base chip on reverse. A faint, approximately 3" hairline descending from spout, barely visible on exterior. H 7 1/4".
