Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Drape Decoration, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / NEW-YORK", Clarkson Crolius, Sr. or Jr., Manhattan, NY, circa 1820, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and ribbed lug handles, decorated with a scalloped cobalt drape design on the shoulder of the front and reverse. Brushed cobalt highlights to handles. A tight L-shaped crack extending from rim to shoulder on front. Several tight spider lines to surface of jar, which do not appear to extend through to interior. A minor chip to underside at edge. Minor base wear. Numerous small, shallow chips to rim. A glazed-over iron ping to rim. A tiny nick to top of one handle.
