Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder and ribbed lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with two large tulips below a wavy cobalt stripe. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and wavy stripe of cobalt below each handle. Unusual Roman numeral "IV" for four gallons below one handle. A very faint X-shaped line on underside. Minor wear to one handle. A few small chips to interior and exterior of rim. A 1 1/4" inverted U-shaped surface crack on interior of rim.
