Two-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Henry H. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1840, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a stem bearing flowers and graduated swags. Additional swag decoration under each handle and cobalt highlighting the handle terminals. Provenance: David Musser Collection. A 1 1/2" surface line on underside, continuing 5 1/2" as a curved line onto front, not visible on interior. A few base chips. A small, shallow chip to top of rim.
