Stoneware Spittoon with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Inscribed "1/2", possibly New Jersey, circa 1860, with footed base, tooled shoulder, and circular opening at shoulder, decorated on one side with a vine bearing three flower blossoms, and on the reverse with the brushed cobalt notation "1/2.". Spittoons produced by this currently-undocumented "numeral potter", believed to be from New Jersey, are considered unusual. A few tiny nicks to opening at shoulder. A tiny nick to opening on top surface with a faint 1 1/2" hairline extending from it. Some staining to top. H 3 7/8" ; Diameter 7 1/4".
