Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Impressed Floral Decoration, attributed to Jonathan Fenton, Boston, MA, late 18th century, ovoid jug with footed base and heavily-tooled spout, featuring a detailed impressed design of a flower with cobalt decoration throughout. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Desirable one-gallon size with excellent color. Base chips. A faint horizontal hairline through handle. A shallow spout chip on reverse. A faint, semi-circular line on underside, probably in-the-firing.
