Two One-Gallon Mid-Atlantic Stoneware Jars, circa 1875, one with cobalt stripe decoration and stenciled sunburst motif, stenciled "Jas. Hamilton & Co. / Greensboro, Pa", paired with a Baltimore, MD example with four brushed leaves or clovers around the shoulder. Hamilton jar with cracks in underside, connecting to flake on underside and a base flake. One of these cracks extends 4 1/4" up front of jar and includes staining. Additionally, a 1 5/8" in-the-firing contact mark on reverse with a 1 1/4" line ascending from it, staining to surface, two rim chips, and some minor wear to shoulder molding. Baltimore jar with rim chips and two streaks of staining.
