Twenty-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Stenciled and Freehand Decoration, Stenciled "T.F. REPPERT / SUCCESSOR TO / JAS. HAMILTON & CO. / GREENSBORO, PA", circa 1880, large-sized, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and ribbed lug handles, decorated with elaborate freehand stripes and vining above desirable T.F. REPPERT "SUCCESSOR TO JAS. HAMILTON & CO." stenciling, flanked by stenciled roses. Base with freehand "20" flanked by flourishes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Desirable size and crisp decoration, in exceptional condition. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 26".
