Rare Stoneware Canning Jar, Stenciled "GEORGE L. HILL / FREDERICKTOWN, PA", Western PA origin, circa 1875, tapered jar with semi-rounded wax-sealer rim, the front featuring the highly-unusual merchant stenciling, "GEORGE L. HILL / FREDERICKTOWN / PA". Stenciled flourishes flank the abbreviation "PA" and appear above the name. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, recently-discovered in Ohio. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 8 3/8".
