One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, attributed to Stephen B. Sweeney, Henrico County, VA, circa 1838-1863, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a stylized foliate design composed of graduated leaves. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Excellent condition with a recessed spot to one side and two minor chips to underside.
