Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "SAM'L. I. IRVINE, NEWVILLE, PA", circa 1865, cylindrical jug with tooled shoulder and squared rim, decorated with a large brushed flowering plant design featuring three blossoms emanating from a leafy base. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Excellent decoration with vibrant cobalt. Some restoration to spout. Otherwise excellent condition with a small glazed-over chip to side of spout.
