Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Profuse Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "S.T. BREWER / HAVANA", New York State origin, circa 1855, squat-shaped, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with an elaborate brushed design of a stem bearing graduated leaves and four spotted tulips, flanked by two spotted circles. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. A thin crack extending across underside and 2" up one side and 1 1/2" up opposite side. A small stone ping to inner rim where a lid would rest.
