Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BURGER / ROCHESTER", New York State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with an artistically-slip-trailed flowering plant with shaded accents to the petals and leaves. Slip-trailed "3." to shoulder. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. A 2 1/2" filled area to base. A 2 5/8" filled area to rim on reverse. Two small chips, one to top of rim and one to interior of rim.
