Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. BURGER, JR. / ROCHESTER, N.Y.", circa 1885, cylindrical jar with flared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed motif of a flower blossom with alternating veining, spots, and stripes on the interiors of the petals. Slip-trailed "2" at shoulder. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Two large, shallow rim chips. A small chip on interior of rim. Two iron pings to surface. A thin inverted Y-shaped line under one handle, measuring 8". Some small scattered flakes to surface.
