Exceptional Redware Loaf Dish with Latticework Slip Decoration, Pennsylvania origin, early 19th century, rectangular dish with rounded corners, the interior profusely-decorated with crossing trails of wavy yellow slip in a diagonal pattern. Surface covered in a clear lead glaze. This example ranks as one of the most elaborately-decorated loaf dishes we have ever offered. Coupled with its striking slip design is an unusual, less elongated form. The condition is also exemplary for the form as well, which is typically found with moderate to significant glaze loss on the interior. Excellent condition with some very minor surface wear and some shallow chips to outer edge, visible when dish in turned over. L 13 3/4" ; W 11 1/2".
