Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Incised Floral Decoration, probably Hartford, CT, early 19th century, ovoid pitcher with flared base, tooled shoulder, and inwardly-tapering collar, decorated on the front with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a drooping flower emanating from a leafy stem. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Base broken and reglued. This damage includes a large sealed spider crack, which ascends from base, partway of which extends through the incised decoration.
