Colonel Ellsworth Commemorative Ironstone Pitcher, Stamped "M A P / TRENTON, NJ," Millington, Astbury, & Poulston, Trenton, NJ, circa 1861, molded pitcher depicting the murder of Union Colonel Elmer Ellsworth, labeled "COL ELLSWORTH," and the shooting of his assassin, "J W JACKSON / THE TRAITOR" by "F E BROWNELL". Reverse impressed "UNION AND CONSTITUTION" with image of an eagle holding a snake in its beak, grasping a palmetto tree and fallen Confederate flag in its talons, beside a raised American flag with rifles. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with an in-the-firing separation to underside of handle near upper terminal. This separation remains on the underside and is not visible on the top of the handle. H 8 1/2".
