Unusual Half-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Coggled Decoration and Iron-Oxide Wash, Old Bridge, NJ origin, early 19th century, ovoid pitcher with short collar and applied strap handle, decorated on the base of the collar with coggled diamond design. Upper half of pitcher with light iron-oxide wash. The coggled decoration on this pitcher matches that found on sherds excavated in Old Bridge, NJ by Robert Sim and James Brown during the mid-20th century. Excellent size, form, and decoration. Tight horizontal hairline at base with hairlines extending off from it, including one extending approximately 5" up front. H 9".
