Shenandoah Valley Redware Sugar Bowl, attributed to Anthony Bacher, Winchester, VA, circa 1880, ovoid form with footed base, open loop handles, and tooling to midsection and rim, the surface covered in a lead and manganese glaze over cream-colored slip. Interior covered in a clear lead glaze over slip. Desirable form with attractive mottled coloration, including heavy brown flecking to exterior. A 1 3/4" x 7/8" flake to underside at edge of bowl. Typical wear to rim. H 4 3/8" ; Diameter (across rim) 4 3/4".
