Open-Handled Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Star Decoration, Kingston or Manhattan, NY origin, early 19th century, approximately three-quart jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and open loop handles, decorated with a brushed star on each side. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. The distinctive star design on this jar indicates it may have been made by Kingston, NY potter, Egbert Schoonmaker, who worked in Manhattan, NY for a period. A minor base chip and tiny base nick. A faint 2 1/2" surface line near base, probably in-the-firing and not visible on the interior.
