Rare Stoneware Preserve Jar, Impressed "PLUMBS", attributed to Clarkson Crolius, Sr., Manhattan, NY, early 19th century, thin-walled, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and flared rim, the surface covered in a reddish-brown slip and impressed with the fruit name, "PLUMBS", at the shoulder. A rare and desirable Crolius form. A 1 1/4" in-the-firing line from rim on front. A thin J-shaped crack from rim on right side of jar, ending 3 3/8" from rim. H 7 7/8".
