Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "OHIO STONE / MANUFACTURED / BY, C. BATCHELDER / MENASHA WIS.", circa 1860, cylindrical crock with tooled rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a nicely-executed, two-stemmed tulip plant design. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Long shallow flake to edge of one handle, along with a small chip to end of same handle. Tiny nicks and wear to opposite handle. A 6" vertical hairline at base on reverse, continuing 2" onto underside.
