Anna Pottery Stoneware World's Fair Pig Flask, Anna, IL origin, Dated 1893, molded in the form of a reclining pig with hole at rear, anatomically-correct underside, and incised details to face and hooves, the side incised with the inscription "From the Worlds Fair / with a little good old Rye in a - / 1893". Additionally incised at the pig's rear with the inscription "Cut Rates to all Points West", a playful pun referencing the incised cut marks in the pig's testicles. This pig, along with others from this period, was produced from a mold that includes particularly fine detail to the face, including well-formed cheeks and raised circular eyes. Excellent condition with some in-the-firing surface lines to belly of pig, which are glazed over, and typical light wear to spout. L 7".
