Two-Gallon Stoneware Cream Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "N.A. WHITE & CO. BINGHAMTON", New York State origin, circa 1866-1868, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a long-necked bird with spotted breast and striped wing perched on a vine. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Some fry to cobalt. Light wear to surface and edge of one handle. A 1 3/4" chip to bottom edge on side of jar, partially visible while jar is sitting flat and possibly in-the-firing. A second, minor chip to underside, which occurred in the firing. A few minor nicks on interior of rim.
