Extremely Rare Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Incised Dog Decoration, Stamped "G.S. GUY & CO. / FORT EDWARD, NY", circa 1882, squat-shaped jar with rounded shoulder and flared rim, decorated with an incised and cobalt-accented design of a dog with curled tail, pointed ears, and shaded details to body, seated on a grassy lawn. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Good form and size, featuring a wonderful and highly unusual figural design. Few incised decorations from this period are known. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 8 1/2".
