One-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration and Lid, attributed to Henry H. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1845, cylindrical crock with heavily-tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a brushed swag and fan-shaped floral motif. Undersides of handles decorated with a wavy cobalt line. Additional cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Includes a Baltimore stoneware lid with brushed swags and cobalt highlight around the knob. Crock with hairline in underside, two chips to one handle, and a few shallow chips and wear to interior of rim. Chips to lid.
